After a year of searching for a proper working space cum processing unit, we were able to identify Mawlyngot village as the center. Jingkyrmen VDVK -C consist of 4 villages (Mawlyngot, Khapmaw, Pingwait and Pyngkya ) in which 300 SHG beneficiaries are Benefited from 4 Village Organization. Its processing unit is located in Mawlyngot village, P.O Smit, East Khasi Hills District, Meghalaya – 793015. This processing unit will also serve as a training center for food processing for the other villages in the block.
It took us a year to establish a proper Processing unit in Mawlyngot village (2022- 2023). After which we were able to start a small processing unit on value addition of Banana and Tapioca Chips. Later on we were able to add Millets for value addition along with Mawlyngot tea leaves.
The VDVK focuses mainly on the value addition of millet with a variety of products ranging from : Millet cookies, cupcakes, grinded millets, millet namkeen, apart from millet the VDVK is also engaged in the processing of tea leaves, Banana and Tapioca, Soh iong and ginger powder & paste (on the process).
